Freyburg
|
 |
Freyburg is the hometown for all newcomers. Most information is gathered there,
and the city is exactly in the center of the Keorangar continent. There are many
shops and guilds there, as well as varying places of interest: Guild shops, the
theatre, the cathedral... Its graveyard is well known for the strange happenings
taking place there.
Freyburg itself is an ancient town, small roads frame a
mostly a depressing style of architecture. Threatened by a volcano in the near
south-eastern environment, the orcs and goblins to the north-west, and goblins
from the south, its walls and gateguards learned to resist trouble. Inside of
the walls there is a huge cathedral, around which Freyburg obviously
accrued. After the support of King Welmar as well as that of several merchants
from Midgaard, there was built a huge theatre, and several other nice buildings
though, to polish Freyburg up. Now its town hall and tourist information search
comparison in the whole known world.
"Never have I met people so tolerant like those of Freyburg. It's a little dirty,
muddy place, remnants of barracks around a monastery, but they've accepted any
people to come to them and live among them. And as there are so many races,
there are as many types; some of them are quite naive. I'm sure you'll have your
transaction there."
-Frok, Highwayman
There is no "usual" inhabitant of Freyburg, rather seem its folk like a moving
army of ants over time: many arrive, many settle, many leave; Freyburg has not
grown much in the past few decades though. That stream of fresh blood also makes
Freyburg one of the places where tolerance is important, its inn is one of the
few whose barkeeper would give even a demon, or an drow elf a drink. Just as
there is no real leader of the town, there is a constant influence on Freyburg's
politics through King Welmar, ruler of Keorangar, as well as Duke Bertold, whose
castle is near.
Freyburg as the center of the continent also serves another function, because
many travelling heroes WILL cross the place of the Bertold's fountain. Many a
quest already started there...

note that is it quite a large image (250k) ).
