Khedrugar
|
 |
Khedrugar is a mountain fortress guarding the hell valley, and happens to
accomodate the dwarvish population of Keorangar. No aliens are allowed to enter
there, and as the whole place is built as a fortress, it will be hard to
convince the dwarves of something different. There are many shops, sages,
battle-masters and master smiths in it.
Khedrugar is ruled - both in civil and military life - by King Rhodar. The
ruleset and environment of Khedrugar is strict - very strict - but fair. The
harshest forfeit known in Khedrugar is not Death, as one might guess, but
banishment from the mountain fortress.
Curses to the hell valley! You can't see far, and robbers everywhere! But we all
can be happy those little moving battle-armors with the long beards were
there. They raged through the troops of the robbers... it was
unbelievable. Afterwards they took us with them, into a mountain garrison. They
called it "home", I grinned. But from the Fountain of Friendship, whose water I
was allowed to drink, I could see them mix military and civil life in a perfect
manner.
Most of the dwarves live in rather uncomfortable and simple caverns, mostly
decorated only by masterful stone ornaments, and seldomly lit by more than one
flickering torch, as dwarves can see in the darkness. The usual services of
Khedrugar lie in securing Hell Valley and protecting the realms of King Thorin,
for which they are provided with food by their neighbors. Another part of
Khedrugar's economy focusses on daymining coal and stones, but for sure the most
important and known part of its economy stems from the excellent black- and
weaponsmithes the dwarves have educated over the centuries.
The map fragment above is part of a illustrated map of Khedrugar. The full version is available by clicking on the minimap below (please
note that is it quite a large image (250k) ).
